No one is in custody after a shooting in a Waukegan neighborhood that left a man in his 30s hospitalized Saturday afternoon, police said.
The Waukegan Fire Department and Waukegan Police Department responded around 1:30 p.m. Saturday to the 800 block of Cedar Avenue in Waukegan for a call of a shooting.
Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Joe Florip told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that officers arrived and confirmed a shooting took place.
Officers found one victim, a man in his 30s, who had been shot.
Florip said the victim, who is a Waukegan resident, was transported by paramedics to an area hospital.
His condition has since been stabilized but the extent of his injuries was not known.
A “small sedan” was possibly involved in the shooting, Florip said.
Officers recovered shell casings at the scene but the number of cases was not released.
Florip did not say what led to the shooting. No one is in custody.
Residents reported a garage sale was happening on the block at the time.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Waukegan Police Department.
