The coroner has identified a 55-year-old woman from Wisconsin who was killed after a head-on crash in Beach Park that left two others seriously injured.
An autopsy showed that Anita Parker, 55, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, died as a result of blunt force injuries from a vehicle crash, according to Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton.
The Beach Park Fire Department and Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:10 p.m. Sunday to Green Bay Road and Adelaide Avenue in Beach Park for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Sheriffโs deputies arrived and located two vehicles with heavy damage, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli.
A preliminary investigation shows a Cadillac Eldorado, driven by a 68-year-old man from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was traveling southbound on Green Bay Road in the area of Adelaide Avenue.
The driver of the Cadillac veered into the northbound lanes of traffic for unknown reasons, Covelli said.
The Cadillac struck a northbound Chevrolet Aveo, driven by a 31-year-old woman from Zion.
Parker, who was a passenger in the Cadillac, sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Covelli said.
The driver of the Cadillac was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries.
Covelli said the driver of the Chevrolet was transported by ambulance to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
Green Bay Road was closed in both directions for several hours while investigators worked at the scene.
An autopsy was performed on Parker on Tuesday by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriffโs Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
