Three suspects escaped from police after two of them robbed a convenience store at gunpoint in Marengo and then led officers on a pursuit, which ended in a crash.
The Marengo Police Department responded around 2:14 a.m. Tuesday to Casey’s General Store, 200 East Grant Highway in Marengo, for an armed robbery.
Police learned two offenders entered the store armed with handguns.
The two demanded money from the registers and safe. They fled the scene with money, cigarettes and alcohol.
Officers located a suspect vehicle fleeing the area and a brief pursuit ensued.
The pursuit led to the suspect’s vehicle becoming disabled following a vehicle crash, police said.
The McHenry County Sheriffโs Office and Boone County Sheriffโs Office responded to assist.
A canine search was unsuccessful and the offenders were not located, police said.
The suspect’s vehicle was determined to be stolen from Rock County, Wisconsin. Police said three suspects were involved.
One of the suspects was described as a male Hispanic, 17-22 years old, 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-4, with a thin build.
A second suspect was described as a male black, 17-22 years old, 6-foot to 6-foot-2, with a thin build.
Police said the third suspect’s description was unknown.
