The coroner has identified a 47-year-old woman who died after she was hit by a car while trying to cross Algonquin Road in Lake in the Hills Tuesday evening.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department and Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded around 9:34 p.m. Tuesday to Algonquin Road and Hilltop Drive.

Lake in the Hills Deputy Police Chief Matthew Mannino said officers received a call for a vehicle that struck a pedestrian at the intersection.

McHenry County Coroner Dr. Michael Rein identified the pedestrian as Stacey M. Waller, 47, of Lake In The Hills.

Waller was reported to be unconscious and not breathing following the crash, according to fire department radio traffic.

The vehicle, a 2001 Honda Civic, had been traveling eastbound on Algonquin Road at Hilltop Drive.

The vehicle struck Waller, who was crossing Algonquin Road, Mannino said.

Paramedics arrived and began rendering medical treatment to Waller.

The woman was transported to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley by ambulance and was pronounced deceased, Mannino said.

Police did not say whether the driver of the vehicle was believed to be under the influence or if they were arrested on any charges.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Lake in the Hills Police Traffic Accident Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday at the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
