A portion of Route 120 in Lakemoor was shut down for 10 hours Thursday after a dump truck knocked down a traffic light and multiple electric and cable poles, police said.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District and Lakemoor Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash at Route 120 and Lily Lake Road in Lakemoor around 12:55 p.m. Thursday.

A dump truck was traveling westbound on Route 120 and it accidentally had its dump raised, police said.

As the truck went through the intersection at Lily Lake Road, the dump truck took out the traffic signal and three power, cable and phone poles.

Officers cited the driver for the accident. No injuries were reported.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Lakewood Public Works responded to the scene to assist.

ComEd, Comcast and AT&T were also called to the scene to repair the downed poles and wires.

Residents in the area reported their cable, electric and phone service was out due to the incident.

Officers shut down Route 120 between Cresthill Avenue to Lakeview Drive until 11 p.m. Thursday, police said.

Route 120 was then partially reopened with continued rolling lane closures into the night while crews continued to work at the scene.
