Dru K. Jarvis, 23, of Lake in the Hills.

A Lake in the Hills man has been indicted for allegedly shooting two people in Kane County while they were driving home from work in Huntley, leaving one of the victims dead.

Dru K. Jarvis, 23, of the 1300 block of Cunat Court in Lake in the Hills, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, armed violence and unlawful possession of a weapon by a street gang member.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser said the shooting occurred early in the morning on August 22, 2020.

Jarvis was a passenger in a white sedan that was traveling southbound on Route 31 in Elgin.

Near the intersection of Route 31 and Kimball Street, the sedan pulled alongside a light-blue Mini Cooper.

Jarvis fired multiple shots into the Mini Cooper, Mosser said.

The front seat passenger, Francisco Trujillo-Uscanga, 41, of Elgin, was struck by gunfire in his torso. He died a short time later at AMITA Health St. Joseph Hospital.

The Mini Cooper’s driver was also struck by multiple gunshots, Mosser said.

The two victims were on their way home from a restaurant in Huntley where they worked as cooks.

The state’s attorney’s office said the shooting was the result of an apparent road rage incident but did not provide further details.

Jarvis’ bond was set at $750,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 7.

In September 2020, the Elgin Police Department announced that Jarvis had been charged with committing a separate shooting that occurred on August 29, 2020, in the 300 block of South McLean Boulevard in Elgin.

During that shooting, a victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and detectives determined Jarvis was the suspect, police said.
