A man working on a commercial building suffered serious injuries after he fell through the roof in Antioch Saturday morning, fire officials said.

The Antioch Fire Department responded around 10:40 a.m. Saturday to the 800 block of Anita Avenue for a report of a fall victim.

Fire officials said a man in his 20s had been on the roof of a building.

The worker was performing some type of maintenance on the roof when he fell through a skylight.

The man fell approximately 20 feet to the ground from the roof.

A medical helicopter was initially requested to the scene to transport the victim but it was canceled.

Paramedics ground transported the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The worker suffered serious injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening, fire officials said.

Additional information was not immediately available on what caused the fall to occur.
