Police are investigating after they say a teenage boy was found with a gunshot wound at a residence in Zion over the weekend.

The Zion Police Department and Zion Fire Rescue Department responded around 9:54 a.m. Saturday to the 2400 block of Gideon Avenue in Zion for a person shot.

The victim’s mother called 911 to report her son had been shot, Zion Police Department Lt. Paul Kehrli said.

Officers arrived to find the victim with a single gunshot wound.

The victim, who is in his mid-teenage years, was shot in an extremity.

Paramedics transported him to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Kehrli said investigators have not received much cooperation from the victim and further details were not available.

No suspects have been taken into custody.
