Multiple fire departments were called to a fire that destroyed a small building on the North Point Marina property in Winthrop Harbor early Saturday morning.
The Winthrop Harbor Fire Department responded around 5:55 a.m. Saturday to the North Point Marina, 701 North Point Drive in Winthrop Harbor, for a report of a structure fire.
The first firefighters to arrive encountered a locked entrance gate to the property, according to fire department radio traffic.
Winthrop Harbor Deputy Fire Chief John Lewis told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that crews arrived to find an outdoor restroom building on fire.
There were no life safety concerns, Lewis said. The building is next to the marina pool.
It took approximately two hours to fully extinguish the fire and complete overhaul, Lewis said.
The Zion, Gurnee, Pleasant Prairie, Beach Park and Newport fire departments responded to the scene to assist.
The North Chicago and Libertyville fire departments covered Winthrop Harbor’s fire station during the incident.
Lewis said the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. No one was injured.
The fire remains under investigation by the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department.
