An Island Lake man who was arrested for allegedly grooming a child online and sexually assaulting her is now facing new charges for reproducing child pornography, court records show.
Ernesto Reynosa-Vasayez, 34, of the 4000 block of Newport Drive in Island Lake, was charged in June with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, three counts of criminal sexual assault, traveling to meet a minor, exploitation and grooming.
A grand jury later indicted him on a total of four counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, traveling to meet a minor and grooming.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleged Reynosa-Vasayez used an online platform to entice a child to distribute sexually explicit photographs of herself in May.
The child sent the man the photos via Snapchat.
Reynosa-Vasayez traveled to engage in sexual conduct with the child on May 16 after using the online platform, the complaint said.
Reynosa-Vasayez allegedly sexually assaulted the child by committing several acts that day, the complaint said.
The man allegedly sexually assaulted the child again on May 22. The child was under the age of 13.
Officers with the Island Lake Police Department arrested Reynosa-Vasayez in late June.
McHenry County Judge Tiffany Davis set the man’s bond at $1 million.
Reynosa-Vasayez has remained held in the McHenry County Jail since his arrest.
Court records show Reynosa-Vasayez is now facing more than a dozen new charges after a 16-count indictment was filed against him in late October.
The indictment said Reynosa-Vasayez possessed and reproduced numerous images and videos of child pornography.
It was not clear if the material involved the same victim that Reynosa-Vasayez was accused of sexually assaulting.
Reynosa-Vasayez’s bond is now set at $1.15 million, jail records show. He would need to post $115,000 cash in order to be released.
An arraignment hearing on the new charges is scheduled for November 16.
