A McHenry man is being held on a $1 million bond for sexually assaulting and abusing two children in Barrington on multiple occasions, according to prosecutors.
Cameron A. Dabney, 21, of McHenry, was charged with six counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and two counts of criminal sexual abuse.
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Kelse Banks said during a bond hearing that the first victim in the case was under 13 at the time of the offenses.
The girl told her counselor that she was sexually assaulted by Dabney when he was approximately 18 years old.
She said in the interview that they would watch movies together at night and Dabney would touch her, Banks said.
On at least one of the occasions, the victim tried pulling away from Dabney but he allegedly would not stop.
The victim reported multiple different instances where Dabney would sexually assault and sexually abuse her.
Dabney would also ask the victim to send him photos of her private areas, Banks said.
Interviewers also spoke to the victim’s sister who recalled walking in on Dabney on top of her sister.
A second juvenile victim reported that Dabney made her perform oral sex on him, Banks said.
A judge initially set bond at $250,000 when signing an arrest warrant for Dabney.
Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak increased the bond to $1 million during an initial court hearing last week.
The most serious charge against Dabney, predatory criminal sexual assault, is a Class X felony that carries 6-30 years in prison.
Dabney remains held in the Lake County Jail and would need to post $100,000 cash in order to be released.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 29.
