Police officers responded to investigate after a threat occurred at Palombi Middle School during a school dance Friday evening, authorities said.
The Lake Villa Police Department said they became aware of a threat that occurred at the school, located at 133 McKinley Avenue in Lake Villa.
Officers immediately responded to the school after the incident was reported, police officials said.
An investigation was conducted and officers determined no credible threat had been established.
Officers from the Lake Villa Police Department and Antioch Police Department remained at the school until all students were picked up by their parents.
The incident remains under investigation. It is unknown if any student was identified as being involved or taken into custody.
Lake and McHenry County Scanner has reached out to Palombi Middle School administration and the Lake Villa Police Department for additional information.
Late last month, students were evacuated and police responded after reports of a gun inside Viking Middle School during a school dance event.
The Gurnee Police Department said at the time that officers received reports of a gun inside the building.
All students were evacuated from the school and sent home early.
Police determined the claims of a gun on campus were unfounded.
It is unknown if there is any link between the two incidents, which occurred just two weeks apart.
