A suspect is in custody after a man was shot at an apartment building in Antioch Wednesday morning, prompting the high school to temporarily restrict students from leaving the building.
The Antioch Police Department responded around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to the Antioch Manor Apartments, 398 Donin Drive in Antioch.
Antioch Village Communication Specialist Jim Moran said officers received a call for a shooting that had occurred.
The victim, a man in his mid-40s, suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The man is currently being treated at an area hospital, Moran said.
A preliminary investigation determined that the shooting was part of a domestic situation involving a family-related dispute.
A suspect is in police custody and the investigation remains ongoing, Moran said, adding that there is no danger to the public.
No charges have been announced yet against the suspect.
The Antioch Community High School administration said they became aware of the situation shortly before the end of the fourth period, prompting the fifth-period open campus lunch to be closed.
“There was never any risk of danger to students within the building or at any other offsite locations involving ACHS students,” the administration said in a message to parents.
School administration said around 12:15 p.m. that the high school was safe to continue standard operations and resume open campus lunch.
Students with sixth-period open campus lunch were allowed to leave the building.
