Friends of a Johnsburg woman have created a fundraiser to pay for her funeral and take care of her dogs after the woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash near McHenry.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District, Spring Grove Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 12:19 a.m. Monday to the 5700 block of Fox Lake Road in unincorporated McHenry.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call for a single-vehicle crash on Fox Lake Road south of Route 12.
Deputies arrived to find a 2003 Toyota Corolla that crashed into a tree.
Firefighters reported the driver was trapped in the car and unresponsive.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Roberta Wisch, 40, of Johnsburg, the McHenry County Coroner’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office said a preliminary investigation showed the Toyota was traveling southbound on Fox Lake Road.
The Toyota drove off the roadway to the west for an unknown reason and struck a mailbox and then a tree.
Wisch, who was the sole occupant of the Toyota, was not wearing her seatbelt and died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.
The front airbags of the Toyota deployed during the crash.
The McHenry County Sheriffโs Office Major Crash Investigation Unit was called to the scene to conduct a crash investigation.
A GoFundMe account has already raised more than $4,000 for Wisch’s funeral cost.
The money will also go towards taking care of Wisch’s three dogs, Dallie, Eleanor and Winnie, along with any other expenses.
Patricia Matos said in the fundraiser that Wisch was “tragically taken from us” and that her death is an “unexpected tragedy.”
“Bobbie, your light will shine bright forever for us,” Matos said.
The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriffโs Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coronerโs Office.
