The coroner’s office has identified a Zion woman who died after officers found her lying in the roadway in Waukegan suffering from multiple gunshot wounds Sunday morning.

An autopsy showed that Siedah Mickens, 30, of Zion, died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, according to Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton.

The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded around 1 a.m. Sunday to the 500 block of May Street for a shooting.

Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Joe Florip said officers arrived to find a person lying in the roadway.

The female victim, later identified as Mickens, had been shot, Florip said.

Paramedics transported Mickens to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.

The Waukegan Police Department Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to investigate due to the seriousness of the case.

Investigators located multiple spent shell casings at the scene.

Police said they are not releasing the number of casings recovered or their caliber.

No one is in custody for the homicide, Florip said, adding that the case is considered open and active.
