Police say they arrested two men after one of them allegedly fired shots into a vehicle occupied by two teenage girls in a Wauconda neighborhood Friday evening.
The Wauconda Police Department responded around 7:16 p.m. Friday to the 300 block of Brown Street for a report of a shooting.
Two females, who are both 17 years old, reported that they were driving in the 300 block of Brown Street.
As they were traveling in their vehicle, someone shot at them, according to Wauconda Police Department Sgt. Heather Cognac.
The two girls reported the incident to the police and also advised they knew the offender.
One of them identified the suspect as an ex-boyfriend, Cognac said. The two victims were uninjured.
Officers responded to the offender’s home and located Raul Gonzalez, 18, and his brother, Martin Gonzalez, 20.
The two men, who live in the 200 block of Slocum Lake Road in Wauconda, were taken into custody.
Police say Raul Gonzalez was the shooter. A loaded firearm was recovered.
Raul Gonzalez was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle and three counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
Martin Gonzalez was charged with attempting to obstruct justice and driving while license revoked.
Cognac said the shooting was a targeted incident and there is no further threat to the community.
Anyone with Ring doorbell footage in the 300 block of Brown Street is asked to contact the police department with any evidence they may have been recorded.
Both men remain in custody and are expected to appear in bond court this weekend.
