A woman is in critical condition and a second woman was seriously injured during a crash that was caused by a driver under the influence on Route 120 in Park City, police said.
The Park City Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded around 2:19 a.m. Saturday to Route 120 and Knight Avenue for a report of a vehicle crash.
The Gurnee Police Department, Waukegan Police Department and Gurnee Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
Park City Police Commander Kenneth Stoves told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that the incident happened in front of the McDonald’s.
An investigation showed that a 2008 GMC pickup truck had been traveling westbound on Route 120.
The GMC attempted to make a left turn into the McDonald’s parking lot.
A 2016 Mitsubishi, which was traveling eastbound on Route 120, struck the GMC after the GMC apparently pulled out in front of the Mitsubishi.
A woman driving the Mitsubishi, along with a female passenger, sustained serious injuries, Stoves said.
Paramedics transported both of them to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
The male driver of the GMC was transported to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
Stoves said Saturday afternoon that all three people injured remain hospitalized.
The passenger of the Mitsubishi is in the intensive care unit with critical injuries.
The driver of the GMC has been charged with driving under the influence, Stoves said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Park City Police Department.
