Thammaya Siackhasone, 39, of Volo.

Authorities say a man attacked a woman and sexually assaulted her during a home invasion in Volo that was partially witnessed by one of her children Friday morning.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 10 a.m. Friday to the 600 block of Timpani Place in Volo for a report of an aggravated domestic battery.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said the victim fled to a neighbor’s home to call 911 after the offender fled the scene in a vehicle.

The offender was identified as Thammaya Siackhasone, 39, of the 2700 block of Hartigan Road in Volo.

An alert Lake County sheriff’s deputy responding to the scene spotted Siackhasone fleeing, conducted a traffic stop on his car and took him into custody.

Covelli said deputies learned that Siackhasone had arrived at the victim’s home to pick up their children.

After retrieving the children, who are both under the age of 10, Siackhasone told them to wait in his vehicle.

Siackhasone went inside the victim’s home without permission and began attacking the victim and sexually assaulting her, Covelli said.

Siackhasone allegedly told the victim he intended to kill her and the children.

One of the children became concerned because it was taking their father so long to come back to the car.

The child went inside and witnessed some of the abuse, Covelli said.

The victim was eventually able to get free and fled from the home.

The woman was treated at an area hospital for her injuries.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges of home invasion, aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated domestic battery, attempted criminal sexual assault, criminal trespass to residence and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.
