Police on Thursday arrested a man who allegedly attacked two victims with a skateboard in Crystal Lake, leaving them hospitalized with serious injuries.

The Crystal Lake Police Department and Crystal Lake Fire-Rescue Department responded around 11:18 p.m. Tuesday to the 300 block of Teckler Boulevard in Crystal Lake, which is behind the Jewel-Osco store.

Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Rick Neumann said officers received a call for a report of two people who had been battered by an offender someone they knew.

An investigation showed that the suspect used a skateboard to strike the two victims multiple times in their heads during the attack, Neumann said.

A criminal complaint said the male victim suffered significant blood loss and numerous serious injuries.

He suffered facial lacerations that required stitches and staples and facial bone fractures that required surgery.

Crystal Lake police and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office located the suspect, identified as Brandon M. Brown, 28, in the 2000 block of Hillside Terrace in unincorporated Cary.

He was taken into custody and initially provided officers with a fake name and date of birth, the complaint said.

Brown was charged with two counts of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, two counts of aggravated battery using a deadly weapon, two counts of aggravated domestic battery and one count of obstructing identification.

Neumann said the investigation remains active and is still ongoing.
