A Crystal Lake woman is facing felony charges after she allegedly punched a police officer and kicked him in the groin in Crystal Lake, court records show.
Karrie L. Salisbury, 48, of Crystal Lake, was charged with one count of aggravated battery to a peace officer, a Class 2 felony.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said that a Crystal Lake police officer was battered around 10 p.m. on December 1.
Salisbury punched the officer in the face and kicked him in the groin, the complaint said.
The officer was not seriously injured.
Salisbury was arrested and transported to the McHenry County Jail.
McHenry County Judge Tiffany Davis ordered Salisbury held on a $40,000 bond.
Assistant Public Defender Kim Messer filed a motion seeking another bond hearing after requesting bond be reduced.
Messer said Salisbury is “not a danger to the community” and not a flight risk.
McHenry County Judge Mark Gerhardt denied the request for reduced bond during a Tuesday hearing.
Salisbury would need to post $4,000 cash in order to be released from the McHenry County Jail.
Court records show Salisbury was charged in 2007 with battering a police officer in Cary. She pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of resisting a peace officer.
Salisbury was also charged in 2016 with battering a police officer and domestic battery of a person in Crystal Lake. She pleaded guilty to aggravated battery in a public place.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 23 in her latest case.
