Police arrested a Round Lake Beach man after he allegedly fled the scene of a rollover crash, leading to officers recovering almost $20,000 in cash and over seven pounds of cannabis products.

Bryan I. Flores, 19, of Round Lake Beach, was charged with possession with intent to deliver over 2,000 grams of cannabis, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of over 2,000 grams of cannabis, possession of a controlled substance, leaving the scene of an accident, unlawful use of cannabis by a driver, reckless driving, improper traffic lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Caitlin Valiulis said officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash in Round Lake on December 3.

Flores was driving a red Jeep and got into a crash with a Toyota pickup truck.

Flores did not stop and the driver of the Toyota followed the Jeep to Round Lake Beach, Valiulis said during a bond hearing Thursday.

The Jeep went off the road and rolled over in the 1100 block of Sunset Drive in Round Lake Beach.

Flores allegedly fled on foot but was stopped and detained by officers.

Officers found over $17,600 in cash on Flores’ person when they arrested him, Valiulis said.

Officers also found over 200 grams of cannabis in multiple baggies and $203 in cash on the ground that fell out when his car rolled over.

The Jeep was towed to the police department to be searched and officers found more drugs and cash inside it.

Valiulis said they recovered 1,084 grams of cannabis bud, 62 grams of THC carts, 2,174 grams of THC wax, 82 grams of psilocybin, a scale and other packaging materials.

There was also additional money in the car, which added up to $19,906 in total seized from Flores and his car.

In addition to his Round Lake Beach charges, he was also charged in the Round Lake crash with operating an uninsured motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and improper traffic lane usage.

Lake County Judge Michael Betar ordered Flores held on a $250,000 bond during an initial hearing.

Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak denied a request to reduce bond during a Thursday hearing.

Flores remains held in the Lake County Jail and would need to post $25,000 cash in order to be released.

A status of preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 29.
