A woman died after she was found shot and unresponsive inside a vehicle in front of a manufacturing plant in Waukegan Monday evening, authorities said.
The Waukegan Fire Department and Waukegan Police Department responded around 7:37 p.m. Monday to the 1900 block of South Waukegan Road in Waukegan.
Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Joe Florip said officers received a call for a subject slumped over in a vehicle.
Officers arrived and located a victim that had been shot.
The victim was found in a vehicle off the shoulder in the northbound lanes of Waukegan Road, Florip said.
Officers performed CPR on the victim until paramedics arrived and the victim was confirmed to be deceased.
Florip said the victim is an adult female, in her mid-20s, who was a Lake County resident.
The Waukegan Police Department Criminal Investigation Division (CID) was called to investigate.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office is in the process of scheduling an autopsy on the woman.
The coroner’s office is withholding the woman’s identity until the autopsy is complete and her next of kin has been notified.
No one is in custody yet for the shooting, Florip said.
