An acupuncturist was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a patient and attempting to sexually assault a second patient at his office in Barrington, police said.
Kwan Chong, 63, of Palatine, was charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one count of attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault.
The Barrington Police Department said the charges stem from two separate victims making police reports with the department.
Chong allegedly sexually assaulted one of the victims and tried to sexually assault the second victim, police said.
Police said the incidents both occurred during the course of acupuncture treatment at Chong’s office.
Further details about the incidents were not immediately released.
Chong is the owner of Holistic Acupuncture, which is located at 109 East Station Street in Barrington.
The business name does not appear to be registered with the State of Illinois.
State records show Chong is a licensed acupuncturist and has never been disciplined before.
Chong is in police custody and will be transported to Cook County Court for a bond hearing on Friday.
The Barrington Police Department said they encourage other patients of Chong to come forward if they were assaulted by him.
Anyone who wishes to make a report can do so by calling Detective Kopera at 847-304-3306.
