Dominique A. Williams, 29, of Chicago.

A Chicago woman was arrested after she allegedly fled from police with a baby inside her car in Lakewood and caused a crash in Huntley, court records show.

Dominique A. Williams, 29, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated fleeing causing property damage over $300, a Class 4 felony, and child endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said an unmarked Village of Lakewood police car attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Sunday.

The officer was attempting to stop a 2017 Buick on Route 47 in Lakewood.

The Buick, driven by Williams, did not stop despite police activating their emergency lights, the complaint said.

Williams fled the attempted traffic stop at a high rate of speed, the complaint said.

While fleeing, Williams crashed the Buick at Route 47 and Reed Road in Huntley and caused damage.

The complaint said Williams caused a 1-year-old boy to be endangered during the incident.

The baby was not properly secured in a child safety seat and was inside the Buick when it fled from officers.

The complaint said the boy was further endangered when the Buick was involved in the traffic crash, which caused the airbags to deploy.

Officers arrested the woman around 2:58 a.m. that day.

McHenry County Judge Gerhardt set bond at $3,000 and Williams was released from the McHenry County Jail after posting $300.

Gerhardt noted that Williams does not have a prior criminal record.

A status of preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 17.
