Police are investigating a suspected homicide after a man in his 40s died after suffering blunt trauma at a residence in Gurnee Sunday.

The Gurnee Police Department and Gurnee Fire Department responded around 1:45 a.m. Sunday to the 1000 block of Boulevard View in Gurnee.

Emergency crews received a call for a report of a person who was possibly deceased, according to the initial dispatch call.

Paramedics transported the victim to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan where he was pronounced dead.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office confirmed they responded to investigate a suspected homicide.

The victim is a male in his 40s. A source said investigators believe he suffered blunt trauma inflicted by a family member.

The Gurnee Police Department is leading the investigation. The Lake County Major Crime Task Force assisted with evidence collection.

No one is in the custody of the Lake County Jail yet in connection with the incident, records show.

Further details on the case were not available. The Gurnee Police Department has not released information yet.

The coroner’s office has scheduled an autopsy on the victim for Tuesday morning. His identity is being withheld until the autopsy is complete.
