Authorities have identified the 23-year-old man who was fatally shot in the chest during a shooting that left a second man wounded at Stretch’s Sports Bar and Grill in Waukegan on Christmas Eve.

An autopsy performed Tuesday showed that Anthony Pedroza, 23, of Zion, died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek.

The Waukegan Police Department responded around 2:20 a.m. Saturday to Stretch’s Sports Bar and Grill, located at 200 North Green Bay Road in Waukegan, for a call of a shooting.

Officers located a victim, later identified as Pedroza, with a gunshot wound and began lifesaving measures, according to Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Brian Mullen.

Fire department radio traffic indicated the man was unresponsive and officers were performing CPR on him.

A second victim in the shooting had self-transported to Vista Medical Center East before officers arrived.

That victim, a male in his 20s from Waukegan, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The Waukegan Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and Major Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to investigate.

Investigators had a person of interest in custody following the shooting, Mullen said.

Robert B. Sudduth, 30, of Waukegan.

Court records show Robert B. Sudduth, 30, of Waukegan, was charged Monday with one count of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Sudduth was transported to the Lake County Jail Monday morning.

He is being held on a $2 million bond. He would need to post $200,000 cash in order to be released.

Mullen said investigators are not seeking any other suspects in the case.

Sudduth is scheduled to appear in court for a status of preliminary hearing on January 3.
