Erik Hernandez, 32, of Ingleside.

Authorities say a man became upset his neighbors were walking around the neighborhood, accused them of stealing and then fired shots in Ingleside.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded just after midnight early Monday morning to the 35600 block of North Franklin Avenue in Ingleside.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said deputies were dispatched to the location for a report of shots fired.

The 911 caller indicated his neighbor, Erik Hernandez, 32, of Ingleside, just shot at him, Covelli said.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived and determined Hernandez had been outside.

Hernandez became upset some of his neighbors were walking around the neighborhood, Covelli said.

Hernandez allegedly accused his neighbors of stealing from him and a verbal argument ensued.

Covelli said that Hernandez became more enraged, went inside his home and returned with a gun.

Hernandez then fired two shots from his pistol into the air, Covelli said.

Sheriff’s deputies seized the firearm used by Hernandez and arrested the man.

Court records show Hernandez did not have a valid Firearm Owners Identification card or concealed carry license.

He was charged with three counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of reckless discharge of a firearm.

Jail records show Hernandez was released from the Lake County Jail after posting 10% of his $100,000 bond.

Hernandez is scheduled to appear in court again on Thursday for a status of attorney hearing.
