Police say they will be conducting extra patrols after shots were fired in a residential area in Winthrop Harbor Thursday morning.

The Winthrop Harbor Police Department responded to the 1400 block of 3rd Street in Winthrop Harbor early Thursday morning.

Officers received a call that someone fired shots. No injuries were reported.

The Winthrop Harbor Police Department is currently investigating the incident.

Officials said there are no identifiable threats to the community at this time. They did not provide further details on the shooting.

Officers will be conducting extra patrols throughout the village as a precaution.

“Keeping Winthrop Harbor safe is a community effort,” the village said in a statement.

The village also said that anyone who sees something should say something. Suspicious activity should be reported by calling 911.
