Burglars smashed the glass to the front of Kohl’s in Crystal Lake overnight and entered the store where they stole merchandise, police said.

The Crystal Lake Police Department responded around 2 a.m. Friday to the Kohl’s, 5420 Northwest Highway in Crystal Lake.

Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Richard Neumann said dispatchers were initially notified of an alarm at the business.

Officers arrived on the scene approximately a minute later.

They found the front glass of the business was broken out and that offenders had entered the business, Neumann said.

It was learned the offenders made off with merchandise. The exact amount of merchandise was unknown.

Police did not release any surveillance photos or descriptions of the suspects.

It was also unknown what kind of vehicle they may have arrived in.

The Crystal Lake Police Department said they are actively investigating the burglary and all leads as they develop.
