At least one person was injured in a fight inside People’s Choice Family Fun Center in Waukegan that led to a shooting in the parking lot, police and witnesses said.
The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded around 6:30 p.m. Friday to The People’s Choice Family Fun Center, 2650 Belvidere Road.
It was reported that a fight occurred and shots were fired.
Witnesses at the scene reported that an argument occurred, escalating to a fight, before the shots were fired.
Fire department radio traffic indicated a female was bleeding after being “stomped” on the head.
A photo shared with Lake and McHenry County Scanner showed a small pool of blood on the ground inside the business.
Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Brian Mullen confirmed to Lake and McHenry County Scanner that a physical fight occurred inside the business.
A suspect pulled a gun in the parking lot and fired shots, striking a vehicle, following the fight.
No one was wounded in the shooting, Mullen said. No one is in custody in connection with it.
There were preliminary reports to dispatchers that someone was injured as a result of the fight but no one came forward to report that to officers on the scene, Mullen said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department.
