A driver was seriously injured and had to be extricated from his truck after it struck two concrete walls on Interstate 94 near Waukegan Friday evening, police said.
The Gurnee Fire Department, Libertyville Fire Department and Illinois State Police responded around 8:39 p.m. to Interstate 94 near O’Plaine Road for a vehicle crash.
An Illinois State Police spokesperson said District 15 troopers arrived to find the crash in the westbound lanes of Interstate 94 at mile marker 12.
A preliminary investigation showed the vehicle was traveling in the westbound lanes when it veered off the roadway to the right.
The vehicle struck the concrete wall and then traveled across all westbound lanes of traffic, the spokesperson said.
It then struck the median wall before coming to a rest on the left shoulder.
State police say it is unknown what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
