An Indiana man is wanted after he was charged with grooming a McHenry County child online and obtaining child pornography from the girl, court records show.

Carlos M. Flores, 20, of the 800 block of East US Highway 6 in Ligonier, Indiana, was charged with two counts of child pornography, two counts of grooming, indecent solicitation of a child and exploitation of a child.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Flores used the internet to communicate with a juvenile female between November 2021 and April 2022.

Flores knew the female was under the age of 17 and solicited the child to distribute photographs of herself, the complaint said.

Flores obtained child pornography by allegedly persuading the child to commit an act on herself, the complaint said.

It allegedly occurred on a video call with Flores, who exposed himself as well during the recorded call.

The complaint said Flores groomed the child by engaging in unlawful sexual conduct with her.

The complaint further said that Flores intended to commit predatory criminal sexual assault of a child when he sent text messages to the child indicating what he wanted to do with her.

The case was investigated by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Charges were filed against Flores on December 13 and an arrest warrant was issued.

The most serious charge against Flores, child pornography, was charged as a Class X felony, which carries a six to 30-year prison sentence.

The warrant remains active and Flores is not yet in the custody of the McHenry County Jail, records show.
