Authorities say a 26-year-old man was transported to the hospital after he was found shot in North Chicago early Saturday morning.

The North Chicago Fire Department and North Chicago Police Department responded around 2:48 a.m. Saturday to the 1700 block of Park Avenue for a report of a shooting.

Emergency radio traffic indicated a victim had possibly been shot multiple times.

A spokesperson for the City of North Chicago said officers arrived to find one victim who had been shot.

The victim, a 26-year-old man, was suffering from a gunshot wound to his buttocks.

Paramedics transported him by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The victim’s injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening.

“This was a targeted incident and there is no danger to the community at-large,” the city spokesperson said.

No suspects were believed to be in custody yet.

The incident remains under investigation by the North Chicago Police Department.
