Police say a third victim has come forward alleging they were sexually assaulted by an acupuncturist while being treated in his office in Barrington.

Kwan Chong, 63, of Palatine, was charged last month with one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one count of attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault.

The Barrington Police Department said the charges stem from two separate victims making police reports with the department.

Chong allegedly sexually assaulted one of the victims and tried to sexually assault the second victim, police said.

Police said the incidents both occurred during the course of acupuncture treatment at Chong’s office.

After the first two victims came forward, a third victim came forward with similar allegations, according to Barrington Assistant Police Chief John Burke.

All three victims are adult females, Burke said.

Chong is the owner of Holistic Acupuncture, which is located at 109 East Station Street in Barrington.

The business name does not appear to be registered with the State of Illinois.

State records show Chong is a licensed acupuncturist and has never been disciplined before.

Chong was taken into police custody last month and transported to Cook County Court for a bond hearing.

He was released on a cash bond following the hearing.

Burke said the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation has opened an investigation into Chong.

The Barrington Police Department said they encourage other patients of Chong to come forward if they were assaulted by him.

Anyone who wishes to make a report can do so by calling Detective Kopera at 847-304-3306.
