A man has been charged with punching a nurse in the face while he was being evaluated at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, prosecutors said.
Brendan Davy, 40, of Waukegan, was charged with aggravated battery to a nurse, a Class 3 felony.
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Francis DeRosa said Davy had called the health department and was making threats.
He was transported to Vista Medical Center East by Waukegan police officers on Monday.
Medical personnel evaluated Davy and determined he was not homicidal or suicidal.
DeRosa said that Davy demanded the hospital staff keep treating him.
He felt that the staff was not giving him enough attention, DeRosa said.
Davy then allegedly made a rhetorical threat about hurting someone to get seen.
It was reported that the man began yelling and having an outburst.
Davy punched a nurse in the face and also slammed a door, DeRosa said.
Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak noted that Davy has numerous prior domestic battery cases.
Potkonjak set bond at $150,000, meaning Davy would need to post $15,000 cash in order to be released.
Davy, who remains held in the Lake County Jail, is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on February 7.
