Officers were able to take an armed man into custody after he walked through a residential neighborhood in Grayslake and began firing shots Thursday afternoon.
The Grayslake Police Department responded around 12:30 p.m. Thursday to the 300 block of Clarewood Circle in Grayslake for a report of shots fired.
The 911 caller reported that she and her boyfriend were involved in a domestic incident at a nearby home.
Police said the woman reported her boyfriend was firing shots into the air while walking between houses following the domestic.
The responding officers encountered the armed offender a few blocks away, police said.
The subject was immediately apprehended without further incident. A handgun was recovered.
A preliminary investigation showed the offender discharged multiple rounds into the air following a verbal domestic dispute, police said.
Bullet casings were recovered from the scene.
No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.
Police officials said this “appears to be an isolated incident” with no further danger to the community.
Grayslake police detectives continue to investigate the incident.
It was not immediately known whether charges have been filed yet.
