A Crystal Lake man has been charged after he allegedly attacked a woman, who was holding a toddler, by strangling and kicking her in Crystal Lake.
John H. Boone, 28, of Crystal Lake, was charged with aggravated domestic battery, two counts of domestic battery and child endangerment.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges the incident happened around 7 p.m. on January 18.
The complaint said Boone strangled a woman, who is a family member.
Boone also kicked the woman approximately five times on her back while she was on the ground, the complaint said.
The woman was holding a one-and-a-half-year-old child while she was being attacked, the complaint said.
The case was investigated by the Crystal Lake Police Department.
An arrest warrant was obtained on January 19 and Boone was taken into custody on Friday.
McHenry County Judge Joel Berg ordered Boone held on a $60,000 bond.
Berg noted in court documents that the man has prior convictions for similar or more serious violent offenses.
Boone’s public defender has filed a motion requesting a reduced bond or for Boone to be released on a personal recognizance bond.
A hearing on the motion is scheduled for Friday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 17.
