Police successfully negotiated with an armed subject, who was suicidal and homicidal, and barricaded at a residence in Grayslake Sunday morning, officials said.

The Grayslake Police Department and Grayslake Fire Department responded around 10 a.m. Sunday to the 1300 block of Churchhill Lane in Grayslake.

Police officials said it was reported that a person was making threats to family members.

The subject was armed and reported to be homicidal and suicidal.

A perimeter was established around the residence during the initial response.

Officers then called for a level two Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) mutual aid response.

The activation dispatched multiple police officers from surrounding jurisdictions to the scene.

Grayslake police officers made verbal contact with the subject, who was barricaded inside the residence.

Officers negotiated a “quick and successful” resolution where the subject was safely taken into custody without incident, police officials said.

The subject was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation.
