A driver was uninjured after his vehicle went off Interstate 94 into swampy marshland behind an office building in Lake Forest Thursday evening.
The Lake Forest Fire Department, Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District and Illinois State Police responded around 9:37 p.m. Thursday to Interstate 94 just south of Route 60.
A motorist called 911 to report his silver 2014 Hyundai Sonata went off the roadway while on the ramp from westbound Interstate 94.
The caller reported he was in a pond and was able to get out of the car.
The car was found in a wet marshland next to a pond at an office complex at 100 Saunders Road in Lake Forest.
Paramedics evaluated the man, who did not report any injuries and did not need transport to the hospital, a state police spokesperson said.
Troopers reported the Hyundai was approximately 50 feet off the roadway.
A tow truck from Ernie’s Wrecker Service was dispatched to the scene.
The interstate was covered in snow at the time of the incident and the area was under a winter storm warning.
Troopers provided traffic control while the vehicle was being pulled out of the ditch, the police spokesperson said.
