A surveillance video captured the moment dozens of shots were fired, leaving a North Chicago man shot multiple times in the parking lot of a strip mall in Waukegan Friday.

The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded around 5:40 p.m. Friday to the 1400 block of Golf Road for a shooting.

Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Brian Mullen said the shooting occurred in the parking lot of the strip mall, which is on the corner of Golf Road and Butrick Street.

Officers located one victim with gunshot wounds.

The Waukegan Fire Department transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment.

The extent of his injuries was not released but Mullen said the victim’s condition has been stabilized.

The victim is described as an adult male in his 20s and a resident of North Chicago, Mullen said.

The Waukegan Police Department Community Crimes Division is following up on investigative leads in the case.

Detectives believe the victim was specifically targeted. No suspects are in custody.

Mullen said the police department is not releasing additional information about the suspects or their descriptions.

A residential surveillance video shared with Lake and McHenry County Scanner captured the audio of the shooting.

Well over 30 shots appeared to be fired during the shooting, which lasted around 30 seconds.
