Detectives are investigating a suspected arson fire that left a resident’s car engulfed in flames in the driveway of their home in Huntley, authorities said.
The Huntley Police Department and Huntley Fire Protection District responded around 11:31 p.m. Wednesday to the 11800 block of Everglades Road in Huntley for a report of a vehicle fire.
Huntley Deputy Police Chief Linda Hooten said officers arrived to find a gray passenger car fully engulfed in flames.
The car was parked in the driveway of a house.
The Huntley Fire Protection District arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire.
No one was injured as a result of the fire, Hooten said.
The nature of the fire appears suspicious and Huntley police detectives are conducting an investigation into the incident.
Hooten said the burnt vehicle was not stolen and there is no indication it had been used in a crime prior to the fire.
Investigators have not identified any suspects but a silver sedan was seen driving in the area prior to the fire.
Hooten said the police department is seeking anyone who lives in the area and may have witnessed suspicious activity.
Residents who may have surveillance footage during the time period of the fire are also being sought.
