Sheriff’s officials say victims were uncooperative with investigators after gunmen fired shots at their home in Beach Park Tuesday evening.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday to the 38000 block of North Manor Avenue in Beach Park for a report of shots fired.
Sheriffโs deputies arrived and located a home that was shot, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli.
Nobody was shot or injured during the incident, Covelli said.
A preliminary investigation shows a dark-colored vehicle slowed in front of the victims’ home.
Occupants in the vehicle then shot toward the home, which is believed to have been specifically targeted.
Investigators are unsure how many shots were fired because there were no shell casings left behind.
Covelli said sheriff’s deputies and evidence technicians were asked to leave by the victims as they were processing evidence.
“The occupants indicated they did not want the assistance of the sheriffโs office in processing their home for evidence, without the sheriffโs office obtaining a search warrant,” Covelli said.
Despite the victims being uncooperative, sheriff’s detectives will continue to investigate, Covelli added.
