A man was arrested after he allegedly hit a child with a rock-filled sock and then slammed the boy’s head into another child’s head in Fox River Grove.
Dennis G. Carol, 45, of Fox River Grove, was charged with four counts of domestic battery, a Class 4 felony, and two counts of child endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Carol was intoxicated around 11 p.m. on February 28.
Carol began destroying items in a house and swinging a sock filled with rocks, the complaint said.
Carol used the sock filled with rocks to hit a 13-year-old child, the complaint said.
The complaint said Carol grabbed the boy’s head and smashed his head into another child’s head.
Officers with the Fox River Grove Police Department responded and arrested Carol.
He was transported to the McHenry County Jail where he was ordered held by McHenry County Judge Mark Gerhardt.
Gerhardt imposed a $15,000 bond and noted Carol has been previously convicted of serious violent offenses.
Carol was released from the McHenry County Jail on Saturday after someone posted 10% of his bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 1 and a motion hearing is scheduled for Monday.
