Police officers successfully performed lifesaving measures on a 24-year-old man who was found unresponsive after crashing into a light pole and a tree in Libertyville.
The Libertyville Fire Department and Libertyville Police Department responded around 6:07 a.m. Friday to Garfield Avenue and Ames Street in Libertyville for a single-vehicle crash.
Officers arrived and discovered the vehicle had driven off the roadway where it struck a light pole and a tree.
The driver of the gray Toyota was identified as Samuel Leeson, 24, of Rockford.
Leeson was unresponsive and had agonal breathing, police officials said.
Officers performed lifesaving measures, which were successful.
Leeson was transported by paramedics to the Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for medical treatment.
Police officials said officers investigating the crash determined Leeson was operating the vehicle while impair.
Leeson was released from the hospital later the same day and was arrested by officers.
He was transported to the Libertyville Police Department where he was processed and charged with driving under the influence of drugs.
Leeson was released from custody after posting his driver’s license and signing a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court on March 24.
