Mohammad M. Khan, 35, of Gilberts.

A case manager for a local social service agency in McHenry County has been charged after authorities say he groomed and inappropriately touched several children.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office was notified on September 13 by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services of possible child abuse.

The suspect was identified as a case manager for a local non-profit social service agency, the sheriff’s office said.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division conducted a five-month investigation into the incidents.

Several juvenile victims were identified during the investigation.

The victims all provided consistent allegations against the suspect’s contact and communication as being sexual in nature, the sheriff’s office said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Mohammad M. Khan, 35, of Gilberts.

Khan is charged with grooming, a Class 4 felony; three counts of battery, a Class A misdemeanor; and two counts of disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Khan engaged in unlawful sexual conduct with a child on September 4 when he massaged the legs and inner thigh of the victim.

Khan moved his hands up to the girl’s genital area while telling her “nothing inappropriate happened right,” the complaint said.

The complaint said two separate additional battery incidents occurred on July 22 and August 27.

Khan placed his hand on the mid-thigh of a child in the two incidents, the complaint said.

Between January 2022 and September 2022, Khan asked children inappropriate questions about their sexual activity, the complaint said.

Khan recently surrendered himself to the McHenry Police Department on the warrant.

Sheriff’s officials refused to publicly name the agency Khan worked for.

He was released from the police department after posting 10% of a $10,000 bond.
