An Algonquin man was sentenced on Monday to probation for possessing multiple videos of child pornography that were found by police, court documents show.
Tyler J. Weine, 22, of Algonquin, was charged in May 2021 with three counts of child pornography, a Class 2 felony.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said Weine possessed three videos found by police detectives on May 20, 2021.
Those videos depicted young males, who were under the age of 18, in a lewd exhibition and were on Weine’s iPhone, the complaint said.
The case was investigated by the Algonquin Police Department.
Police arrested Weine on the evening of May 20, 2021, court records show.
McHenry County Judge Tiffany Davis set Weine’s bond at $40,000 during an initial bail determination hearing.
Weine posted $4,000 cash and was released from the McHenry County Jail the day after his arrest.
Court records show Weine entered into a negotiated plea deal with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Weine pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography, a Class 2 felony.
In exchange, prosecutors dismissed the remaining charges against the man.
McHenry County Judge James Cowlin approved the plea deal and sentenced Weine to two years of probation.
Cowlin also ordered Weine to register as a sex offender for life and undergo sex offender treatment.
Weine will also be required to pay $3,639 in court fines and fees.
