No one was injured and a Gurnee home is uninhabitable after a fire broke out Tuesday evening, fire officials said.
The Gurnee Fire Department responded around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday to the 300 block of Pine Grove Avenue for a report of a structure fire.
Firefighters arrived and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of the house, Gurnee Battalion Fire Chief James Pellitteri said.
A column of smoke was seen from a distance.
No one was inside the house when the fire broke out and the homeowner arrived later, Pellitteri said.
Crews brought the fire under control around 10 minutes after arriving.
There were no injuries, but the house is uninhabitable.
Crews were initially concerned about the fire spreading to a neighboring house, but firefighters contained the fire and there was no damage to the other home, Pellitteri said.
A damage estimate or cause of the fire was not immediately available as the fire remains under investigation by the Gurnee Fire Department.
