A judge ordered a Round Lake Park man held on a $1 million bond after prosecutors say he sexually assaulted and abused three children in Round Lake Park.
Rafael Martinez-Heredia, 41, of Round Lake Park, was charged with three counts of criminal sexual assault of a child and five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child.
Officers were dispatched to a report of a sexual abuse on Thursday, Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Emma Smoler said.
A minor victim reported that Martinez-Heredia has come into her room and pressed his genitals against her body.
He also digitally penetrated her multiple times, Smoler said.
A second minor victim reported that Martinez-Heredia would touch her over her clothing, Smoler said.
Smoler said a third minor victim reported that Martinez-Heredia would tell her to “play a game” where he would inappropriately touch her over her clothes.
Martinez-Heredia, who is a family member of the victims, admitted to the allegations when interviewed by investigators.
Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak ordered Martinez-Heredia held on a $1 million bond.
Potkonjak barred him from having any contact with the victims or anyone under the age of 18.
Martinez-Heredia remains held in the Lake County Jail and would need to post $100,000 cash in order to be released.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 6.
