Residents are asked to shelter in place as police and SWAT respond to a barricaded subject at an Antioch home Friday evening.

The incident is occurring in the 600 block of Hillside Avenue in Antioch and has been ongoing since at least 6:40 p.m. Friday.

Village of Antioch Communication Manager Jim Moran said a subject has barricaded themselves inside a house.

“As a precaution, the immediate area has been evacuated. Police ask anyone in the immediate area to please shelter in place until advised otherwise,” Moran said.

Officials have not yet released further information.

The Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS) Emergency Services Team is on the scene.

The Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) was also activated, bringing in numerous police officers from the surrounding area.

The Antioch Fire Department has been on standby in the area.
