Two people were evaluated by paramedics after a fire damaged a deck and a home near McHenry late Friday evening, fire officials said.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 10 p.m. Friday to the 2800 block of Stilling Boulevard in unincorporated McHenry for a structure fire.

McHenry Township Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Mike Majercik said firefighters arrived on the scene within one minute.

Crews found a bi-level single-family home with a small fire on the rear deck starting to impact the house.

The fire was quickly extinguished by fire personnel using several water extinguishers, Majercik said.

Four pieces of fire apparatus responded to the scene consisting of 11 firefighters. The Spring Grove Fire Protection District initially responded but was canceled.

Two residents were medically evaluated at the scene but did not require transport to a hospital, Majercik said. There were no firefighter injuries.
